MBBS / B.Pharm at BHU

The PMT/PAT-2008 Screening, the first stage of the two-stage selection process for admission to the MBBS course for the year 2008 in the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, will be held on Wednesday, the 7th May 2008 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad. The PMT/PAT 2008 is being held to screen candidates for eligibility to take the second stage test of the selection process – the PMT-2008 Main examination for MBBS course to be held on Sunday, the 15th June 2008 at Varanasi Centre only.

For B. Pharm. course, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT/PAT-2008 Screening test alone.

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together.
Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply. Applicant should complete 17 years of age but should not cross 25 years as on 31st December, 2008. So, candidates born after 1st January, 1992 and on or before 31st December, 1983 are not eligible to apply.

Applications: Application Form along with the Information Booklet for PMT/PAT-2008 can be obtained: from the following branches of Bank of Baroda on payment of cash of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates) from 1.1.2008 (Tuesday). Sale of application through Bank counters (except at BHU Branch, Varanasi) will stop on 29.02.2008 (Friday). Application Form can be obtained from Bank of Baroda, BHU Branch, Varanasi, up to 4 p.m on 06.03.2008 (Thursday).

Application form and Information Booklet can also be obtained from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 by sending a written request by Registered Post along with (i) a Crossed Demand Draft/Bankers Cheque (MICR only) for Rs. 1060/- (Rs. 660/- for SC/ST candidates) of a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of “The Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU” payable at Varanasi (ii) Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm ´ 6 cm size.

The request for application form should contain the name and address of the applicant as well as the date and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC. Applicant should also write his/her name and address on the back of DD/Bankers Cheque. The envelope containing requisition for PMT/PAT application form should be super-scribed “Request for Application for PMT/PAT-2008, BHU”.

The last date for receipt of request for PMT/PAT form by post is 20.2.2008(Wednesday). Application Forms will be issued only by post and will not be issued in person from the Office of the Director (PMT-Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences.

Last date: Application form duly completed must be sent through Registered Post so as to reach ‘The Director, (PMT Cell), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi-221 005 latest by 5 p.m on 8.3.2008 (Saturday).

For MBBS, the total seats are 55, of which 40 are under General category. There are 9 seats reserved for Scheduled Castes, 4 for Scheduled Tribes and 2 for Physically Disabled candidates. For B.Pharm course, the total number of seats is 25.
